What the Hell is this? “Desperate Leisure”? That doesn’t even make any sense. You’re trying to confuse people, aren’t you? AREN’T YOU?!
Well, yes. Yes, I am.
Back in the ’90s (remember the ’90s? I wish I could forget them.), I used to “publish” what we quaintly called a “zine” titled, strangely enough, DESPERATE LEISURE. It was a crazy bit of collage-y fun and High Weirdness, mixed with just enough social commentary and/or personal anecdotes to make people very uncomfortable.
Flash-forward twenty years (and what a long, strange trip it’s been) and now you can do all that without getting glue all over your fingers or spending a small fortune in a copy shop, only to have people ignore and discard your work, right in front of you. Now you can do it for free, in the privacy of your own home! (No sales-person will call.)
From time to time, I’ll be posting whatever random musings come into my head on whatever issues of the day I deem important and/or trivial enough to be considered and/or ignored by the public at large. Sometimes, maybe there will be pictures of cats or something. Since I am a very old man, I don’t know much about the computer-box so don’t expect much, especially at first, in the way of technical wizardry.
And the first person who mentions “Ethics in games’ journalism” will be shot dead.
